Saudi oil disruption tests Lithuania’s alternative crude supplies

ORLEN Lietuva has secured enough crude to maintain most of its maximum refinery production despite disruptions to Saudi Arabian supplies, according to Lithuanian Energy Agency head Agnė Bagočiutė.

Three September crude cargoes are arriving from alternative suppliers in Norway and Algeria. One Norwegian shipment has already been unloaded, another is awaiting unloading, while an Algerian cargo was expected to arrive in Lithuania on 17 September.

The disruption affects Saudi crude loadings planned for October. ORLEN has also secured additional crude deliveries for its refineries in Lithuania, Poland and Czechia.

Signal: The Mažeikiai refinery has so far absorbed the Saudi supply disruption by switching to alternative crude sources, but the change provides an early test of the cost and resilience of Lithuania’s diversified oil supply chain.
