DNB confirms Riga employees affected by AI-driven restructuring

LatviaAnnounced

Norway’s largest bank, DNB, has confirmed that employees at its Riga service centre will be affected by a restructuring that will eliminate approximately 400 full-time-equivalent positions across the group’s Technology & Services division.

The Riga centre employs nearly 600 people who support DNB’s operations in Norway and other markets, including customer verification, administrative and technical services.

DNB confirmed to Latvian news outlet nra.lv that employees involved in customer due diligence are among those affected. However, the bank has not disclosed how many positions will be eliminated in Latvia.

The restructuring follows the introduction of AI agents capable of performing tasks previously handled manually, particularly customer-data verification, Know Your Customer (KYC) processes and software development. DNB says automation is a major driver of the changes, alongside simplified internal processes and changes in work organisation.

The workforce reductions are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
