🎭 Four Cities Named Baltic Sea Region Cultural Pearls 2026

The title “Baltic Sea Region Cultural Pearls 2026” goes to Glücksburg (Germany), Kristiinankaupunki (Finland), Krosno (Poland) and Schleswig (Germany).

Chosen from 11 finalists, the four municipalities will launch new community-based cultural initiatives next year under the BSR Cultural Pearls programme, funded by Interreg Baltic Sea Region. Each city has developed its own Culture and Resilience Action Plan (CuReAP) aimed at social cohesion and local engagement.

The title will officially start on 20 January 2026, with online seminars throughout the year linking former and new Pearl cities via the platform “Culture for Resilience.”

Context:

Since 2023, 14 Baltic Sea municipalities have received the Cultural Pearl title, highlighting culture’s role in strengthening resilience and civic life across the region.
