Key findings:
β’ Estonians rate payment services very highly: convenience 4.4/5, security 4.3/5.
β’ Main concern: increasing fraud activity.
β’ 87% make daily purchases in physical stores; only 3% mainly shop online.
β’ Payment methods are shifting:
β bank card 69% (down from 82% two years ago)
β phone/watch 23%
β among under-30s: 55% use phone/watch to pay
β’ Cash use is low: 8% prefer it; 20% never use cash for purchases.
β’ 57% have not faced refusal of cash; 14% have.
β’ Card acceptance issues appear mostly at markets, small shops, and beauty services.
β’ Person-to-person payments: mobile banking 39%, internet banking 36%, cash 23%.
β’ 36% have used βrequest moneyβ in mobile banking (62% of under-30s).
β’ Cash availability stable: 63% say no change; 96% use ATMs.
β’ 89% prefer paper receipts, especially for large purchases.
β’ 32% keep savings in cash (46% among under-30s), mainly as emergency reserves.
β’ Support for a cashless society continues to fall:
