Coolbet plans to cut around 130 jobs at Tallinn headquarters

EstoniaAnnounced

Coolbet is preparing to cut around 130 jobs at its Tallinn headquarters, citing weaker-than-expected business performance and growing regulatory and tax pressures.

VG Estonia, the local company operating the headquarters of the online gambling and sports betting group, has notified the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund and begun collective redundancy consultations. Local media put the proposed number of job losses at up to 134.

VG Estonia employed more than 300 people at the end of the third quarter, making the proposed reductions a substantial contraction of its Estonian workforce.

Coolbet CEO Tomas Graham told ERR that the restructuring was prompted by several factors, including disappointing results in the company’s business-to-business operations and increasing regulatory and tax burdens in multiple markets.

The company has not identified the affected markets or specified which departments face reductions. Graham said the final number of redundancies would be determined after consultations, with no final decisions taken so far.
