Key findings:

β€’ Estonians rate payment services very highly: convenience 4.4/5, security 4.3/5.

β€’ Main concern: increasing fraud activity.

β€’ 87% make daily purchases in physical stores; only 3% mainly shop online.

β€’ Payment methods are shifting:

– bank card 69% (down from 82% two years ago)

– phone/watch 23%

– among under-30s: 55% use phone/watch to pay

β€’ Cash use is low: 8% prefer it; 20% never use cash for purchases.

β€’ 57% have not faced refusal of cash; 14% have.

β€’ Card acceptance issues appear mostly at markets, small shops, and beauty services.

β€’ Person-to-person payments: mobile banking 39%, internet banking 36%, cash 23%.

β€’ 36% have used β€œrequest money” in mobile banking (62% of under-30s).

β€’ Cash availability stable: 63% say no change; 96% use ATMs.

β€’ 89% prefer paper receipts, especially for large purchases.

β€’ 32% keep savings in cash (46% among under-30s), mainly as emergency reserves.

β€’ Support for a cashless society continues to fall:

– support 22%

– oppose 64%
