🍦 Froneri Seeks Full Control of Food Union Group in the Baltics
The UK-based ice-cream producer Froneri International submitted a filing to acquire 100% of Food Union Luxembourg Group, according to LRT.lt and data provided by the Lithuanian Competition Council. Froneri, controlled by PAI Partners and Nestlé, imports brands such as Manhattan, Oreo, Milka, Scholler and Pirulo to Lithuania through retail partners.
Food Union operates production in the Baltic states, Denmark, Norway and Romania. Its Lithuanian subsidiaries sell local brands such as Pols, Klasika, Jocker, Bravo and Ekselence. No separate public press release from Froneri has been issued at the time of reporting.
Froneri previously expanded in the region through the acquisition of Premia KPC. The new transaction requires regulatory approval before full consolidation of Food Union’s regional assets.
Context:
The planned acquisition would further concentrate the Baltic ice-cream and dairy sector under large international groups. Regulators in Lithuania and the EU will examine market structure, supply chains and the position of local brands. Decisions expected in the coming months will determine whether the deal proceeds with conditions.
