Latvian Court Orders Squalio Group to Pay €2.3 Million in Bribery Case

Latvia’s Vidzeme Regional Court has ordered IT company Squalio Group to pay €2.3 million in a case involving the bribery of a Belarusian official in 2015.

The appeals court overturned an earlier ruling and imposed a coercive measure on the company. The case concerns a $5,000 bribe paid by a person associated with its Belarusian operations to secure a software contract for DPA, a company within the group.

Squalio Group, which supplies software licences and IT services, intends to appeal the decision. The proceedings are therefore not yet concluded. A final ruling could also affect the company’s eligibility to participate in public p
