🛡 Patria and Valmet Automotive sign deal on armored vehicle production
Finnish defense company Patria and Valmet Automotive have signed a letter of intent to produce and test armored vehicles at Valmet’s plant in Uusikaupunki, Finland.
The companies did not disclose the production start date or the number of employees involved. According to Patria’s defense head Jussi Järvinen, the move aims to expand manufacturing capacity as demand for defense equipment grows across Europe.
The plant, which recently ended its contract with Mercedes-Benz, may partially shift capacity to military manufacturing. Patria already assembles armored vehicles in Cēsis, Latvia, and this agreement signals a broader Nordic-Baltic cooperation in defense production.
