Aviabaltika gets until year-end to leave Kaunas Airport

A Lithuanian court has given aviation maintenance company Aviabaltika until 31 December 2026 to demolish its buildings and remove the remaining materials from the territory of Kaunas Airport.

The buildings had previously been due for removal by 9 June, but Kaunas District Court granted the company an extension on 15 September. Aviabaltika, previously controlled by Russian citizen Yuri Borisov, had already lost the right to continue operating at the airport following national-security proceedings.

The extension means the physical removal of the company from strategic airport infrastructure will take more than six months longer than previously scheduled.

Signal: Lithuania has already excluded Aviabaltika from Kaunas Airport on national-security grounds, but completing the company’s physical exit from the airport is proving considerably slower than the original timetable.
