AI use reaches 65% of people and 34% of businesses in Estonia

Artificial intelligence has moved rapidly into mainstream use in Estonia: 65% of people and 34% of enterprises now use AI tools, according to new Statistics Estonia data.

AI use increased 1.4 times among individuals and 1.5 times among enterprises compared with a year earlier. The expansion is no longer concentrated only among younger users.

Among people aged 35–44, the share using AI rose from 57.9% in 2025 to 81.1% in 2026. Among 55–64-year-olds it more than doubled, from 22.9% to 48.3%, while usage among 65–74-year-olds increased from 8% to 18.3%.

Young people remain the most intensive users: almost 90% of those aged 16–24 use AI.

Businesses are also moving beyond experimentation. The share of enterprises using AI for natural-language generation increased by 11.1 percentage points in a year, while use for generating images and video rose by 7 percentage points.

The business survey covers enterprises with at least 10 employees and follows the harmonised methodology used across the EU, allowing later comparison with other member states when Eurostat releases the full dataset.
