Baltic Weekly Brief — 14–20 September 2026
airBaltic’s Chapter 11 filing and Ryanair’s new Baltic proposal turned aviation capacity into one of the week’s biggest regional questions. At the same time, diesel prices kept rising across all three Baltic capitals even as wholesale markets began to ease.
Elsewhere, defence spending continued to turn into industrial capacity: new factories, state equity, procurement decisions and R&D. Capital was also moving into Baltic assets, from Lithuanian industrial and property deals to Latvian corporate bonds, while electricity connections, logistics and borrowing costs remained critical constraints.
This week’s Baltic Focus Weekly Brief also looks behind the headline export numbers, where re-exports, refining and domestic production tell very different stories across Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
