Lithuanian construction watchdog orders work stopped at five Katos grupė houses

LithuaniaAnnounced

Lithuania’s State Territorial Planning and Construction Inspectorate has identified unauthorised construction at all five residential buildings being developed by Katos grupė in Ražiai village, Kaunas district.

Inspections conducted in September found substantial deviations from approved building designs. The changes required revised projects and new construction permits, which had not been obtained. The inspectorate issued unauthorised construction notices for all five buildings and ordered construction work to stop and the violations to be remedied.

On 16 October, the authority also issued an administrative offence report against a private building inspection contractor over irregularities in the certification of construction documents. The conduct of other participants in the development remains under investigation.

The inspectorate said the unauthorised work may be legalised only if the necessary legal conditions are met.
