BLRT’s Klaipėda Shipyard Advances New Floating Dock Project
Western Shipyard Group (VLG), part of Estonia’s BLRT Grupp, has begun construction of a new floating dock to expand its ship repair operations in Klaipėda.
The dock is expected to enter service in autumn 2027, allowing the company to handle larger and more technically complex vessels and increase the number of ships repaired annually by at least 10%.
Turkish company Hat-San Shipyard was contracted in March to build the 200-metre Panamax floating dock under a $43 million agreement. The project also includes upgrades to infrastructure in Klaipėda and is receiving Lithuanian state support. VLG has not disclosed the total investment.
More than 95% of the group’s ship repair and modernisation work serves foreign markets, making the expansion particularly relevant to Lithuania’s maritime engineering exports.
