📦 Estonia: exports up 4%, imports up 6% in September
In September 2025, Estonia’s exports reached €1.58 bn and imports €1.88 bn, up 4% and 6% year-on-year. The trade deficit widened to €292 m, €46 m more than a year earlier. Over the first nine months, exports rose 7%, imports 8%.
Key export goods were electrical equipment (15%), agricultural products and food (13%), wood (11%) and transport equipment (11%). The strongest growth came from agri-food (+22%) and transport equipment (+18%), while mineral exports fell 31%. On the import side, agri-food, electrical and transport equipment each made up about 13% of total imports, with agri-food up 12% year-on-year.
Main export partners were Finland (16%), Latvia (11%) and Sweden (10%), while imports came mainly from Finland (13%), Germany (12%) and Latvia (11%). Goods of Estonian origin accounted for 64% of total exports, increasing by 4% year-on-year.
Context (Baltic Focus):
Foreign trade growth slowed after a strong first quarter as mineral trade weakened. Estonia’s economy remains EU-oriented — over 75% of exports and 86% of imports are with EU partners. The data show a steady but cooling recovery, with agri-food and machinery sectors offsetting declines in energy and re-exports.
