We compared baseline (non-promotional) prices of ten essential everyday goods across Rimi and Maxima/Barbora in all three Baltic states. Lidl is included where data is available, but used only as a secondary reference.

🔎 Key Insights
1 — Estonia now has the lowest overall basket.
Cheaper vegetables, milk, and an exceptionally low-priced rice line push the baseline below LV and LT levels.
2 — Lithuania remains the cheapest in meat.
Pork and chicken are consistently lower than in Latvia and Estonia, reflecting stronger competition in the protein segment.
3 — Latvia shows the highest vegetable prices.
Carrots and potatoes are nearly double the Estonian level — a persistent pattern across 2024–2025.
4 — Rice shows the strongest divergence in the region.
Estonia: 0.49 €, Lithuania: 0.93 €, Latvia: 1.19 €.
This gap (2–2.5x) is visible across both Rimi and Maxima and reflects post-shrinkflation adjustments in LV/LT.
5 — The 2.99 €/kg pork promotion cycle is synchronized.
Rimi, Maxima and Lidl across all three states ran the same promo in the same week, indicating a coordinated regional discount pattern.
6 — Sugar remains volatile.
Base prices range from 0.73 € in EE to 0.89 € in LT, while promo levels converge around 0.59 €.
