Kaunas Airport doubles capacity with new terminal
Lithuania has opened the expanded Kaunas Airport terminal, increasing throughput from 400 to 800 passengers per hour and enabling up to 2 million travelers a year. The terminal grew by 4,400 m², added six boarding gates, larger Schengen/non-Schengen areas, upgraded baggage systems, and new passenger services. The €17.7M reconstruction, plus €4.5M in tech investments, positions Kaunas as a stronger regional hub. In 2025 the airport targets a record 1.6M passengers, with airBaltic launching direct Kaunas–Riga flights next spring.
