Ignitis plans at least €300 million European Green Bond issue alongside debt buyback
Lithuanian energy group Ignitis has announced plans to issue at least €300 million in five-year European Green Bonds, alongside an offer to repurchase outstanding bonds maturing in July 2027.
The planned issue would be the group’s first under the European Green Bond standard, which establishes EU requirements for the allocation and reporting of proceeds from environmentally sustainable financing.
Ignitis intends to use the new financing for eligible green investments and refinancing, as well as to manage its existing debt obligations. The group has launched investor meetings ahead of the proposed issue, which remains subject to market conditions.
At the same time, Ignitis has offered to buy back its outstanding €300 million bond issue carrying a 2% coupon and maturing on 14 July 2027. The transaction would allow participating investors to move into the new securities while helping the company manage its upcoming repayment schedule.
BNP Paribas, Goldman Sachs Bank Europe, J.P. Morgan and MUFG have been appointed global coordinators, with SEB and Swedbank also participating as joint bookrunners.
The planned transaction forms part of Ignitis’ €2 billion debt issuance programme. The group currently has three outstanding €300 million bond issues maturing in 2027, 2028 and 2030.
The final issue size, coupon and buyback results have not yet been announced.
