Tallinn Airport starts €66.6 million terminal expansion

Tallinn Airport is starting a €66.6 million expansion of its passenger terminal after passenger volumes moved well beyond the capacity for which the existing building was designed.

The terminal was originally designed for around 2.8 million passengers a year, while the airport is now handling close to 3.8 million. The expansion is intended to raise future capacity to as much as 5 million passengers annually.

Around 16,500 square metres of new terminal space will be added and another 18,000 square metres of existing areas will be reconstructed. The project will also add new baggage facilities, commercial areas, gates and expanded aircraft stands.

Major construction work is due to begin in early 2027 and is expected to take around 31 months while the airport remains operational.

Signal: Tallinn Airport is moving from incremental capacity management to a major terminal expansion as passenger traffic pushes materially beyond the limits of the existing infrastructure.
