Vilnius–Klaipėda electrification completes dynamic testing
Lithuania has completed dynamic testing of the newly electrified Vilnius–Klaipėda railway corridor, including the final Radviliškis–Klaipėda section.
The 363 km project, previously valued at about €457 million, includes more than 900 km of overhead contact lines. Once certification is completed and regular electric traction begins, the share of Lithuania’s electrified railway network is expected to rise from roughly 8% to 28%.
This marks one of Lithuania’s largest recent rail-modernisation projects moving from construction into operation.
