Latvian agrifood group expands footprint in the UK
Agrova International, the parent company of APF Holdings (Nasdaq Riga: EGG), has acquired 100% of Sunrise Group in the UK.
Deal value: €40 million, making it one of the largest outbound acquisitions by a Latvian company in recent years.
Sunrise operates a sorting and packaging facility in Sileby (Leicestershire), processing 4+ million eggs per week, and supplies major retail chains, food producers and HoReCa across the UK.
Latest disclosed turnover: €38.5 million. The transaction was financially supported by Accession Capital Partners, a growth-capital fund managing a €336m vehicle.
APF Holdings also owns 51% of UK mobile gaming company Chick Game Studios, indicating a broader diversification beyond core poultry operations.
Context:
Outbound acquisitions from Latvia remain rare — local producers typically scale through export rather than capital deployment abroad. The UK is one of Europe’s most competitive and tightly regulated food markets, making entry via full ownership notable even without sector-level impact.
UK filings show that Sunrise companies report as small private entities, which are not required to disclose profit and loss figures — only balance sheet statements are publicly available.
