airBaltic says workforce changes may affect 500–700 positions

BalticPlanned

airBaltic says planned changes under its new business model could affect around 500–700 positions across its bases in Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn.

The airline currently employs around 3,000 people in the Baltic states. The indicated range therefore corresponds to roughly 17–23% of its current workforce, although not all affected positions would necessarily be eliminated.

airBaltic said consultations include possible lower workloads for pilots and cabin crew as well as changes to the organisational structure elsewhere in the company. The new structure is expected to be defined by mid-October, and no final decisions on individual employees have yet been made.

The workforce adjustment is part of a broader restructuring that also includes a smaller planned Airbus A220-300 fleet and expanded year-round ACMI operations. The airline says its current flight schedule is unaffected.
