Latvia plans €1.4 billion in EU-funded project spending in 2026
Latvia expects budget expenditure on projects supported by EU funds and the Recovery and Resilience Facility to reach approximately €1.4 billion in 2026, according to the Ministry of Finance.
The ministry reports that Latvia has completed all 187 reform and investment milestones under its recovery plan. The final €503.7 million payment request was submitted to the European Commission on 30 September.
Subject to Commission approval, Latvia expects to receive the remaining payment by the end of 2026, bringing total recovery funding to €1.97 billion.
The ministry also estimates that EU-funded investments have raised Latvia’s GDP level by an average of 9.8% relative to a scenario without these investments. This is a model-based estimate, not an observed increase in GDP.
