Riga is celebrating its national holiday week with the annual light festival Staro Rīga, running 15–18 November, every evening from 17:00 to 23:00. More than 40 light installations are set across the city, inviting residents and visitors to explore Riga’s parks, streets and riverside.

This year’s theme — “Messengers of Dawn” — focuses on light as a symbol of renewal and new beginnings. Six curated “Light Circles” guide visitors from the National Library over the river into Old Town, through the central parks, along Brīvības Street and up Miera Street.

The programme includes works by artists from Latvia, Portugal, North Macedonia, the Netherlands, France, Canada, Germany, Sweden, the UK, Romania and Italy, making up one third of all installations.

The route is about 6 km long, designed both for short evening walks and longer explorations over several days.
