☀️ Ignitis invests €106M in 174 MW solar park in Tukums region
Lithuania’s Ignitis Renewables is investing €106 million in a 174 MW solar park near Tume, Tukums district, Latvia. The project will supply renewable power equivalent to the annual consumption of 85 000 households.
The site will host over 282 000 solar panels with sun-tracking technology and a new high-voltage substation. It’s the company’s first Latvian project of this scale and part of Ignitis Group’s plan to invest up to €700 million in renewables across Latvia in the coming years.
Context:
The Tume project strengthens Ignitis’ footprint in Latvia, where it already operates solar parks in Kuldīga and Bauska. It marks continued regional investment despite earlier delays in planned wind projects near Krāslava and Ludza, postponed after Latvia’s Defence Ministry introduced restricted “defence buffer” zones along the eastern border until 2027. These measures temporarily limit new renewable construction but do not affect Ignitis’ ongoing solar operations.
